Before launching our blog Experience Concert, we took the time to study what already existed around concerts in general. We selected three competitors who particularly impressed us for different reasons.
Variety – The professional giant

Variety is an American media company that specializes in entertainment, with decades of experience. It offers a music section that covers concerts around the world, with many detailed reviews written by real professional journalists. Their writing is neat and analytical but it can also be very far from reality and can miss out on many fan opinions. There isn’t necessarily any practical advice about concerts. No information about listings, the best locations and no guide to the place (if you come from far away to attend a show). In addition, the site focuses almost exclusively on English-speaking markets and major international artists. This creates a differentiating element for us. We can provide honest and accessible reviews to our French audience.
Le Bonbon – The local lifestyle guide

Le Bonbon is a French lifestyle media that mainly covers Paris and a dozen other European cities. It does not only talk about concerts but also offers restaurants, outings and events. It’s a kind of guide that gives you all the things to do in the city. The tone is “fun”, young, and very Parisian. However, regarding the concerts, Le Bonbon is mainly limited to upcoming announcements. There are no detailed reviews, no ratings on, or practical advice for fans. The media say what happens, but not what the experience really looks like.
Concert Enthusiast – The Fan Blog

Concert Enthusiast is a personal blog dedicated to concerts. It offers concert reviews, practical advice, venue guides, and a shop with products on the theme of concerts. Compared to other competitors, the tone is more “sincere” and personal. This is exactly the content we like, because it’s closest to our own. The main difference? We assume that there is only one person, so only one point of view. At Experience Concert, there are four of us, with different experiences and different tastes. We will therefore offer more variety when it comes to our content. That’s why we think our approach is richer.
