With the rise in popularity of matcha in the past few years, it seems like everyone has hopped on the trend. Instagram and other social media platforms are flooded with images of the recognizable green drink. Cafés in trendy cities like Paris have added the popular drink to their menus, and matcha kits are easy to buy for those wanting to make it at home. With our own personal enjoyment of matcha and the desire to find the best matcha latte out there, we created Matcha Match. Our goal: share everything we love about matcha, where to find the best matcha cafés, and much more.
Does the perfect matcha latte exist?
Matcha Match was born out of a simple obsession: finding the perfect matcha latte. What started as a personal curiosity quickly turned into a daily ritual – and then, into a mission. Like many others, we found ourselves drawn to matcha through its calming energy and aesthetic appeal, but we soon realized there was so much more behind it. From learning about matcha creators and their craft to experimenting with how to make good matcha at home, we became deeply invested in understanding every detail of this vibrant green drink.
At the same time, living in a city like Paris gave us access to countless cafés claiming to serve the best matcha latte in Paris. Naturally, we had to try them all (for research purposes, of course). But with so many options and varying quality, it became clear that there was a gap: a space for recommendations, honest exploration, and education around matcha.
That’s how matcha came to life, a place where passion meets curiosity. Our goal is simple: to guide you through the world of matcha, from its history to the best spots and practices, while sharing our own journey along the way.
How We Became Matcha (Match) Experts
In order to create the best content, the Matcha Match team has needed to develop its matcha talent. Our team members have taken that job seriously, hunting down matcha lattes across Paris, discovering what the city has to offer. It’s hard work being a taste tester! But all of these consumed have given our team a sense of what differences there are among different types of matchas and preparation styles.
Not only have we experienced matcha prepared professionally, but we’ve always tried it ourselves! To be a good judge, you need to understand what work something requires, so we’ve gained this valuable experience too. We’ve had our share of failed matcha featuring many shades of green so that we can prevent you from making the same mistakes.
